Here's the rundown.

Car is a 2005 gto, don't want to tear the interior apart or add a lot of weight. Currently in the car are six pioneer ts-a1681r 6 1/2", 50 watts, 4 way coaxials that came with the car when i bought it used, with 2 sets being run off a cheap 4x60 amp from a LOC from the stock headunit and the last set run off the factory "sub" amp.

I replaced the stock deck with a 880prs. It sounds better now that i have an eq to work with but still is missing highs, lows and distorts easily. Has pretty good midbass, but lacks punch i like.

My previous car had a system with good lows that rattled it to pieces and highs but lacked the blend of substage with front stage, so my current system almost sounds better to me.

I'm looking for a system that will play rock and rap. So good kickdrum and tight bass, but also the ability to play a ludacris song with authority, but doesn't have to be heard from 2 blocks away. I had that with my last system.

Currently in car:

speakers: six pioneer ts-a1681r 6 1/2", 50 watts, 4 way coaxials

amp: some 4ch amp rated at 60w/ch @4ohm and 75w/ch @2ohm

stock sub amp: 2x50

HU: pioneer 880prs

the speakers are hooked up through an LOC not preamps

Equipment i have lying around:

amps:

us acoustics 2x150 watts

jbl bp600.1 1x600, 2x300 @ 1 ohm or 2ohm, 1x300 @ 4 ohm

speakers:

cdt cl61a mids, no tweeters

re audio re mids, no tweeters

aura tweeters, from mr52?

sub:

stereo integrity magnum in 3 cubic ft ported enclosure

100$ budget but willing to sell stuff, but be reasonable, no ones gonna buy my cl61a mids for 120$ or anything like that.

I was thinking of running active with the current 4ch amp in the car.

re mids in stock location and aura tweets in stock dash location.

Ditch the rear quarters.

Buy two shallow 8's requires some modification

or 6 1/2's subs requires no modifications with the 100$ and put in the rear deck run off the jbl bp600.1. Not too much depth because of gas tank underneath the rear deck.

Then I could sell the magnum and buy a better 4 ch amp if i need to and still not go over 100$ easily.

another idea i had was running the magnum in a sealed enclosure with a set of mids/subs in the rear quarters. People have fit 10's with boxes in the rear quarters, so there is space, but im not the handy, and i don't really want all the extra weight of the magnum in the car. Plus that would be a 4 way system which im not sure how it would work with the 880prs.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

I would run the Aura tweets with the Re mids active in the front, nothing in the back, and keep the sub stage simple. A single sub sealed would work great, there are always a ton of IDs flying around in the classifieds. Or you could run a couple of IDQs IB in the rear deck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

BTW I have the same tweets and they are awesome! Definitely keep them...

After some deliberation, I think I'll build a small sealed box 1 to 1.5 ft^3 for the magnum and just put it behind the drivers seat. There's a lot of space back there just hard for a person to get back there with only 2 doors and should sound better than having it in the trunk I would think. Run the RE mids and aura tweets active off the 4 channel, don't run any power to the rear quarter panel coax or rear deck coax, and use the jbl bp600.1 for the sub. Hopefully having the eq abilities of the 880prs will help blend the sub better with the front stage than the cheap jvc i had in my last car.

Does this sound good?

Sounds good to me i guess...wouldnt run in the sub in the cabin but thats just me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
