SQ: PG vs PPI vs Orion

I have been looking for a high quality 4 channel amp to run my HEX's and also bridged to run a small sub in a sealed box. This is a daily driver and I want as high of SQ as I can get.

The problem I have run into, is I really like PG, but can't find a amp that meets my exact power requirements (100-150x4 or bridged@400-500x2). So I am looking at a Orion 8004(100x4 or 400x2) which would do it or a PPI DCX 1000.4(125x4 or 500x2), both of which are perfect. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif Slight price difference. But running the sub and fronts off the same amp will save money any way. So I am stuck between the two? Then there is the new Xenon which produces too much power for the fronts?

I have noticed that Orion and PPI are both part of Directed Electronics and this bothers me. Just seems that allot of the DE companies have products with very close descriptions and features. Is this me being to anal or what?

You are right about them haveing close specs. But there are many differances between the amps by brands. Better crossovers, more features, more efficienat. Idk why or how they are, but my shop is a dEI dealer and these are all things ive noticed with these amps. I would say the PPI is the best.

For daily driving purposes you would probably have a very hard time "hearing" a difference between those amps. Just look for one that has the best features and is in your price range.

Another thing: Those Xenon are a wee bit different from the other amps due to the fact that they make the same power at any load between 1.5 - 4ohm (like the JL slash series amps). This can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on perspective, but bridging two of the channels on the Xenon 100 x 4 amp will only yield you 200watts and not 400 watts like the PPI & Orion.

Instead of shortening my list I have now added the Soundstream Van Gogh series VGA500.4. Looks promising. I have had two Rubicon series amps in the past. Both worked perfectly. Just another indecisive shopper here.
