I use TLC's Crazy Sexy Cool album as a reference when setting up a new system.

The whole album is a very clean recording that is very dynamic.

Also some select songs by Genesis with Phil collins: I cant dance, another day in paradise, and of course In the air tonight if you can get your hands on an audiophile copy. The original is abit on the dirty side.

people who listen to trance and other electronic music will tell you that the reason for so many remixes is because everyone has a particular style of electronic music that they like. Example: I like hard trance, ambient, anthem, and drum and bass.

some people like melodic, house, techno, electronica. But thats not my thing.

Going back several years for me but I always chose music I was very familiar with for really listening to a system. My favorites were Comfortably Numb from The Wall CD or something from Dire Straits...Money For Nothing always worked for me. Later came some live recordings, Hell Freezes Over from the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac. I never was into the mega bass heavy R&B and rap recordings but Puff Daddy/P Diddy always seemed to release well recorded albums.

Sound QUALITY not quantity like a lot of rap and all that has just bass songs that have vocals, instruments and many different frequencies.

Actually, the way I see it, many incorrectly interchange personal preference and "SQ" all the time. There's an objective quality that can be measured with all sorts of software, but that doesn't mean it sounds subjectively "good" to anyone. For ex, many like the sound of distorted guitars, but it could measure to be dogshit. OTHO, a really well-recorded recorded might be too quiet and boring to a lot of people.

A better term might be "high fidelity."

basically sq is subjective with shared principles among all enthusiasts.

Sq music can be better understood as a concentration on the purity in music and its natural reproduction at its finest. We spend hours upon hours of tuning of system's staging, imaging, height, debth. Tweak our eq's to achieve the balance between the entire bandwidth but tweaked to our personal preferrence.

But the biggest part of what for what makes a sound quality car a sound quality car is the hours of tuning and precise detail on the installation.

i cared a lot about the quality of how everything sounded in my car, but i also liked it when it those low notes would travel across the parking lot too lol. i would say i lean towards SQ a lot, but am not 100% in that direction yet (maybe when i get older and get an occupation i can afford to go in that direction more and more)
