SQ Head Unit with usb

So is it either iPod connection with Apple lossless, USB device (jump drive or external hard drive), or CDs then for SQ?
You need to use the cleanest source audio as you can. And something that the stereo is required to interpret and translate. Otherwise the stereo isn't really involved in the audio process other than just providing an interface between your audio source and the speakers.

MP3 CD's don't count unless the music was copied in lossless format either. A low quality file is no better then a low quality input.

Its Like movies, if you buy the original you will have no problem, but every time you copy it the picture gets fuzzy and not as bright. Audio is the same way, instead of colors you hear frequencies. Its like taking the Mona Lisa and trying to reproduce it in a photobooth.

I love my P800PRS with my iPod touch. I get decent SQ with it and I use only 192 Kbps. I know that's low but it suffices for my liking. The interface with the iPod is pretty good, but like most players out there, it doesn't charge the 4th generation nano or the 2nd generation touch. I don't really care if it doesn't charge mine; it seems to get awesome battery life so far. I've had it for about 6 months.

As far as overall SQ, original copy CDs are the best. They sound awesome on this HU.

Thanks for all the replies from everyone. I decided to go with the Eclipse 5030 because it has all the features I want and it costs less than the others I was looking at. I won't be able to get it until next week so I will see how it performs. That's good to hear about the ipod, my zune has horrible battery life.

And at least with the zune you can rip with up to roughly 1000 bit rate. To my knowledge full cd quality bit rate is roughly 1400 so to my ears and by my math it is pretty close to a cd's quality.
As far as I know the highest CBR for mp3s is 320 kbps and CDs are 1,411 kbps. So I fail to see how the bit rates are even close. But again, 320 kbps does NOT sound bad. But VBR mp3s are superior over ANY CBR mp3. But again, my knowledge of compressed music is limited as I never play them other than on my computer.

I get them by ripping my CDs into the VBR mp3 format via the uber standard using EAC and Lame.exe.

How do I play them in my car?? Simply put..............I don't. CDs and XM radio for me in the car and that's it.

Because I don't download my songs, I rip from the original cd. When you do that you can set which format to rip from. Most of my songs using the lossless format range from 900-1400 bit rate.

What format is that?? I know that mp3 is NOT lossless. Is it .wav or what??
