SQ HDC3 15 or FI SSD 15 in wall

i didn't like the HDC.. took rated power and then some but the suspension ****** it was very NON-linear and didn't like being tuned very low for music..

the SSD is a much better build for daily.

i had a HDC3 got it just to play with.. id take the FI Q over it by a long shot and the new SSD is a very nice driver as well.. its output wont be as good as the AQ with the alum coil and stiff spiders but its much better musically..

If you like the Fi product, why not get a pair of 18" SP4's? They're only 500$ a whack and could certainly hang with 4K on the pair. You didn't mention the vehicle, but pair of 18's will be a lot easier to make sure you have adequate box and port volume and to have enough space on a flat baffle.
not sure y you would recommend the SP4s. they aren't very efficent. for them to shine over the fully upgraded Q you would need closer to 4000 per driver where as 2000 per Q after rise would be ideal for them.

Take 2000W clamped sine wave and throw it into Fi Q and take a video. I want to see how long they hang.

The coil with cooling will take 2kw on music granted its not stupid boosted and your not an idoit.. They are rated for 1500RMS they can handle a clean 2kw on music if you have no distortion.

and after impedance rise even with a 2kw amp he would be lucky to see 1200 continuous on music..

i've daily driven subs with 2.5in coils with 1500 from a SA 1500a.1.. btw i've built and designed several woofers so trust me when i say it will handle the power.

why would you even suggest such a stupid idea? hes not going to have 2 K clamped with a 0DB sinewave ran through it for 8 hours..

How do you know what OP's definition of "music" is? Plenty of what passes for music around these circles pretty much is just clipped sine waves for a bass line. Furthermore, how do you know what impedance his amp will see at any given frequency?

If we're going to speculate on "what if's" I'll err on the side of caution.

I really see no use of you being so captious about this power handling crap all day every day. Who the fuck cares its for demos. Just throw a huge fed amp on it with plenty of headroom. People demoing only need to learn their system limits rather than nitpick about how much it'll handle and other crap. If they hook it up to a 7k amp then they just hooked it up to 7k amp, doesnt mean they are getting the full 7k from it but we all know this whole impedance rise and clamp routine already jesus its old.

BTW From all the setups i've seen, the SP4s are inefficient. Other subs will get louder on the same power.

The point is if someone is in here asking about what to buy or how much power they can throw at their subs it's likely that they do NOT know what their limits are and cannot afford to start blowing up subs to find out what is "safe". Clearly I'm not saying it enough if people keep insisting that running a 2K amp necessarily means that a woofer is or is not seeing 2K. It's funny how everyone crows about how much power all these woofers can handle and yet every day the classifieds is full of blown subs, raw motors, and rebuilt subs.

And generally speaking all 4" coils are not as efficient as 3", but I'd still recommend 4" (especially at the price of the SP4) for someone who plans to run 2K to it without knowing what they're doing.

I run my 8ks at .5ohm to a pair of 3" coil woofers. They take it fine daily. Demo all day yesterday at a show and the subs were fine. Amps got warmer then the subs.

Idk what's up with hispl and his clamp a 2k sine wave crap. Not the first time I've seen him say that crap. Who drives around 2k power on 60hz for 2min straight. NO ONE. So dumb
