I am just curious about what kind of equipment people use for building a true sq set up. I hear about a lot of subs for spl and amps with millions of watts, but what do the sq pros use? How much power, what brands of subs, comps, amps etc. I know that the install and setup is very important in the sq realm, but I'm wondering what kind of gear would be the starting point for a contender.

Amps with very low thd for a start...quality crossovers, quality rca's, HU's with high vlt rca's

Yea your looking at alota money, you can spend alot of spl but same with sq.

Like guys with $2000 tweeters and what not, its insane

Install install install. There are setups with speakers that are worth about $100, but if installed properly than it should sound really good. A bit of tweakin too (EQ, time alignment)

So it comes down to what your own budget is, I happen to be slightly biased by steg as I use it and distribute it, However the price isnt bad considering you get comp qualityI also like ground zero its quite good and DLS of course Zapco and I dont like audisson at all but thats only me you will get 50 people with 50 differnet opinions work out a budget and listen to as much as you can find what fits you ear for quality and then when you find it email me and Ill let you have steg(hahahahaha)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Personally I have used Rainbow, and Hertz, speakers and amps as well as Audison amps and they all sound really nice in their own way. It is really how you hear it and how you want it to sound. Install is key as mentioned above but I don't think some infinity kappa perfects will ever sound as good as mlk165s in a comparable install. I have heard of other really high end "SQ" brands (like genesis amps) but have never heard them personally so I won't chime in on it.

ill agree with that the hertz are pretty good i also like the morels but once again its how much you wanna spend amps are amps are amps it all comes down to install and speakers so listen to as many as you can about three pairs a day anymore than that and you will loose your perspective on what you are hearing and they all start to sound the same

I like zapco thats what i run for my amps/components maybe subs as well still deciding. Zapco competition amps (c2k) are great get the 4.0 with the dsp-6 and your set man.
