SQ and rap?

I was about to say, Neil's comment was pretty tongue-in-cheek...but it's CA.com, do you expect subtle humor to go over well? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
I do think there's a lot of people out there that listen to rap that have very skewed priorities...like spending $3k on a massive substage yet run stock speakers up front. The same kind of people that buy room-filling HDTV's yet use HTIB's for the audio. I'll never understand it, but to each their own I guess //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Or like Mag's and a 20.1 in a Aveo?

Loyd's running a respectable front stage //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I'm referring to the skewed priorities comment. Expensive stero equipment in a chevy aveo, who's priorities are skewed? And looking at his comments, he is not a big rap fan.

Since when did the type of vehicle have anything to do with the reproduction of music?

Some people want a more economical vehicle, others need something with more utilitarian value...all comes down to what works best. Or is there something else involved here?

My point is; if he is thrifty with his car choice, why does he have expensive stero equipmet? Just don't lump rap listeners into non sq. I enjoy hearing my music accurately also. If you read the first post, I had spl subs and wasn't satisfied with them. Then I went to a SQL sub in the Mag and enjoyed my rap even better. Rap listeners like music too.

Who honestly cares? And if you had read my post, it wasn't the amount of money I was talking about, but how you choose to allocate those funds.

Most of the rap I've heard is recorded as artificially as the earliest stereo recordings from the 1960's when the instruments could be on one channel and the vocals on the other...almost totally devoid of staging cues and recognizable timbre.

I enjoy hearing my music accuratey also.
So, would you say that someone that runs 4 15" drivers and 3kW daily yet has head unit power running 5.25" coaxials is reproducing music "accurately"?

Do you know that there are rap groups that play live music with a band. And I don't have a pair of coaxials up front, but am I ignorant, or are my priorities skewed? That is a generalization but everybody can enjoy good bass drivers no matter what they listen to.

I'm not saying that they can't, but a teenage kid blasting 140dB of subbass over a distorted front stage is not "SQ" either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If by that you mean that you don't have any front speakers to speak of...then yes, I would say that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Unless it's a dedicated competition vehicle...

True, but I like to hear highs as well as you.

I do have some type of component speakers; maybe not the best but I have upgraded my front speakers as well as my subs. The original question posed at the beginning of this post was why was rap lumped into non sq. Thats like saying all black folks eat chicken all day. There are some rap music fans who also appreciate an accurate and loud sub.
