I can get the old x's for 200 new and at an authorized dealer hear in town my questions are:

1. Should i buy them? Are there other brands that would fit into my system plans?

(See sig for what i have and i am planning to do away with my type r 12 and replace with 2 id8v3d4)

2. Can the type x mid play down to 80hz or will they only effectively pick up 100hz on up? I know many say the mid bass is lacking ( i did search).

I am shooting for sq and laid back tweets so if you know of any others please feel free.

i only have experience with the type r comps but i think the consensus is that alpine tweets arent very laid back.....some are quite harsh..... like i said dont know anything bout the x's but thats my experience and what ive read about the alpines....

ask him about them....hes really helpful helped me in tuning my momo's as well as talked me out of buying his x's because he said i wouldnt like them!!! now thats honesty

I am here! LOL

$200 authorized is a great price, imo. If you want utmost SQ and don't mind a bit of a laid-back mid on 75w rms, go for it. The tweeters won't be harsh by any means, but not really laid back either. Accuracy is the name of the game here.

I have read some comments of the mids being sent a good clean 175-200w rms and the midbass becomes a bit more aggressive, but I can not confirm or deny this, as I've only sent my mids a max of 100w rms.

Just be sure to have sealed and deadened doors if they are to be mounted there. I have a half-*** deadening job right now and they perform well, so I can only imagine the results would get even better with an adequate job.
