i think nick commented on this subject...lemme see if i can find itHow are they planning on keeping the VC former from rocking in the 2 gaps? Thats an awfully tall former.
so is this design only spl beneficial? As Neil says, isobaric means two drivers push on the same shared surface area. It doesn't matter which way you mount the drivers, facing each-other or in the same direction, you wire them such that the force vectors are in phase. This is simply an isobaric motor, so its shaves a bit of moving mass compared to two isobaric speakers. I'm guessing they did this to increase BL and bypass some SPL contest rules?
Well you get double the BL product, that's like going form 20Tm to 40, its a pretty big jump. But i'm not sure its going to increase your SPL numbers, at some point you just run into a displacement limit. The only thing more BL will do is get you there with less power, but you'll need more voltage because of higher impedance (even if Dcr is the same). More BL is never a bad thing, it will if nothing else will reduce the current load across the coils and protect the driver a little more - burps are pretty aggressive i hear.so is this design only spl beneficial?
im guess this sub will require an much smaller box, im thinking its going to have something to do with isobaric. dont know 100% but thats what im leaning towards. just like kickers solo classics line. nick someone correct me if wrong. but isnt that the whole point of this sub?
Not even close..sorry.
