SPL mobile

I drive a 91 CRX and I wanna make it an SPL mobile for as little money as possible. The money issue is just because I want a project to work on and I wanna see how much SPL I can get from spending around 300 total (sub and amp) I have all the tools and skills to build a box myself. I am hoping/wishing to reah about 142 to 145.

Any suggestions? I know DD has good SPL subs but I dont know prices/website. I would like to know about Elemental and the possiblities of an Adire Tempest.

hey man it might be possible but i have no idea. i'd say get a Tempest and a JBL600.1 if money can get ya that. build as big of a ported box that you can and see what ya get.

I have the money, I just want to have a challenge. Anyone can make an SPL moblie with 1000+ dollars but it is a lot harder to do it on a budget. plus I am thinking about setting up a miniature shop to friends and family so they dont have to drop a grand for those numbers.

I could see 145 in a CRX with a tempest, properly tuned and implimented...

That is about as good as youre gonna get. You might be able to find a used 1200.1 someplace, which would help you a lot. The other option you have is a 1200.1 and a single Elemental 15k. It would cost you about the same (a little less most likely), but you would have considerably more power on tap than with a Tempest on a 1200.1 @ 4 ohm.

The elemental is the same price but how does it sound in a large box? It says small box woofer on the description.

How many Cu. Ft for a tempest and What is your recommended Hz tuning, I was thinking of about 33 Hz but I really dont have a clue.

Also, I think the 90 feet of sound deadener that I havent put in yet will help just a tad bit.

From plotting the Tempest with the 15k, it appears the 15k has a slight advantage...

Optimum boxes (automatically determined by WinISD)

Generic SPL boxes (10 cubic feet @ 50 hz)

Very Very Very nice program, Where can I get it?

So about 9.0 Cu feet and tuned at 20 Hz.

The 15k does look like the better about at 20 hz

but at lower, the tempest goes for it.

Think I'll look at the 15k.

yeah, My bad I just WinISD'ed it and for SPL the 50Hz tuning would Whoop A$$!!!

101 Db at 50 Hz. Al I hafta say is ****....
