I just got a ticket for going 47 in a 30 but the cop let me off on 40 in a 30. any1 know how much this is gunna cost me or how i can get out of this. Also my parents didnt tell theyre insurance company i have my liscense will they find out know, my mom said she isnt gunna tell my dad but wouldnt he find out?

It depends...but if it's not on there, they'll be a number to call where they tell you how much it is.

I don't know about NY specifically, but usually if it's your first offense in a while, they'll let you take a "driver improvement course" and dismiss the charge, so the insurance company never sees it...you still have to pay court costs and the fee for the class, but paying ~$100 and having it disappear sure beats paying the fine and paying the premium increases for the next three years...

Just call traffic court and ask...or look online at local laws. And what do you mean, your parents didnt tell their insurance company you had a license?

No, you usually have to call to find out how much it is. That's how it is in Arkansas anyway.

Also about the insurance - What do you mean your parents didn't tell your company you have a license? Are you not listed on their insurance policy? If not, did you not get a ticket for no insurance? :p If you are on their policy, the speeding ticket may not affect their rates at all (I am an insurance agent with Allstate Insurance) because I know with my company, we do not run driving records/reports at renewal unless requested by the policyholder (which is only when the policyholder knows his/her credit is better now than when the policy was previously written), which means we would have no recollection of any tickets received. If this is the case, the only time the ticket would hurt you is if you tried to switch insurance companies, in which case the new company would pick any and all driving violations.

Hope this helped...

how can any of you who dont live in ny say how it is? not every state is the same, and as a person who has gotten a ticket for speeding in ny, you dont have to call anything in, they give you the ticket with your court date written right on it

It means exactly that. My parents didn't tell my insurance company when I got my license. I was still covered if anything happened, we just didn't have to pay more because I got my license. Eventually they found out I had it and we had to start paying the usual rate.

well theres 3 cars in my family and my cars insured as my dads name but didn't tell them im drivin it, im pretty sure thats what he did. and it didnt tell me how much i have to pay its just told me my court date was march 15th. But i heard the fines less if u pled not guilty, n then i also heard if u dont go to court the first 2 times n then go the third time the cop wont show up to court n dont have to pay or somethin like that. n it is my first offense
