Specs to look at to pick sealed, ported, 4th, 6th, or T Line

Could someone give a simple explanation of some of the sub specs I should look for that give a quick idea of what enclosure a sub will likely work in? Certainly I know there is more than just looking at specs, but something quick that I can use when looking at a speakers T/S so I can say it should work in ported, sealed, ETC. The basic boxes I see everyone ask about are sealed, ported, 4th order, 6th order, and Tline. Could some address what I should look for in those 5 styles of boxes?

I'm no expert but from wat I do know....It's all in your preference, What do you want basically? What kind of space you have to work with? Then choose a box design. There are subs to satisfy every need. Each box design has its pros an cons. So once again, It's all in what u ultimately want. Do research, watch vids, talk to the experienced folk around here....Good Luck

I think its a little more involved than that. I know some guys at a glance can tell you what subs are suited for which type of enclosures. An example of this is guys will say hey I want to try a 4th order and I have sub "X". Guys then chime in and say sub "X" doesnt do well in a 4th order but should do well ported or in a 6th order. I know from looking at some other posts, people said you can look at the Fs, and QTs of a sub and get an idea. Those usually tell you sealed vs. ported. What else would I look at to get an idea of 4th order and 6th order. I am also seeing where people say that subs that do well sealed go 4th order, ported friendly can try 6th order. Honestly it seems like people stick any sub in a T line as long as they have the space for the line lenght.

It seems that you should have in mind the box type first, then find the sub that work best in that box.

Or vice versa.

There was a great web site the broke down the benefits of each type of box real well, but i can't find it right now. i'll keep looking, i'd like to have another T-line built myself. Unfortunately a good T-line is not a DIY project for my skill level.
