Special wiring harness for my truck?

I just purchased a 7" in-dash for my truck. I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado. My friend told me I need to get a special harness because the radio doesn't shut off when the ignition does. Do I HAVE to get this harness ($70 ) or can I get the normal ones and just lose that feature? I could care less about it, it's not worth the extra $55.

Do you have Bose or Onstar? I think youll be alright if you just get a regular harness should be a metra 802003, but you will lose your door chimes if you go this route(assuming your chime comes out of your speaker and not in your dash).

On newer Chevy's the radio doesn't shut off for 15 minutes or until the door is open...

Turn on the key to power on the radio, turn it off, and open the door to see for yourself... It'll shut off when the door is open.
