Speakers Suggestion Please

Hello everyone,

The Infinity 6812cf speakers are descent at mid to high range however, there's no bass at all (even the OEM speakers have more bass to it). I would like to find a new set of speakers that will provide low bass without distortion with an addition of a new amp as well. Also, my front tweeters are currently disconnected, which I hope to reconnect again. My budget is around $200-$300 for both new speakers and a multi channel amp. Please provide some suggestions! Thanks

The current setup I have on my Mazda 3 is:

Front & Rear Speakers:

Infinity 6812cf Reference 6x8 with tweeter disconnected

Subwoofer:

Kenwood KSC SW1 - installed under driver sear

Amp:

None

Pioneer REVs. Awesome midbass (they'll get really low and sound good, even off HU power).

Another option is to make 6.5" adapters/baffles out of MDF (as thick as you can get them without causing the speakers to hit the door panels) and go with the following:

PG RSd65cs $129

Kicker ZX450.2 $189

Set the gain for 120-150w rms per side, and those RSd's will give you all the midbass and smooth highs you desire.

If you have a strong front stage and a substage, you'll likely not even need rear speakers.

I recommend you give it a whirl for a few weeks to get accustomed to it. Then, if you want rears, throw in a set of REVs and run them off the HU. Voilà!

There's the Alpine PDX-2.150, but it's pushing $250 at onlinecarstereo.com. Well worth the extra cost if you can swing it, imo.

I've decided to go with the PG RSd65cs for the front and keeping the Infinity ref 6812cf for the rear and I would like to go for a 4 channel amp. The kicker one you listed above is only dual. Which 4 channel amp would you recommend?

Thanks

the 2 alpines only differ in wattage... 100Wx4 @ 4 ohm, 150Wx4 @ 4 ohm
But will do more than rated. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

The 100.4 should do around 125-135w rms pc, the 4.150 should be around 160-175w rms pc (depending on what the birthsheet states).
