speakers sounding weird

well the past couple of days my speakers have been sounding different than they did before. They sound "crowded" at parts of songs with noise. It also sounds like their is too much bass going to them. I havent changed anything on my amps/deck so i dont see why it would change.

any ideas?

coils could be slowly roasting

Hook them up on a dmm see if they still read correct numbers

what could be causing the coils to "roast" these speakers arent even that old. maybe a year... type r's and running at RMS power.

what readings should i be getting off a DMM?

measure the resistance across the coil with a DMM

Yeah, measure the DC Resistance of the speaker with a DMM.

OK sorry for the stupid questions.. but measure it at the crossover on the speaker side? Could it also be the deck with bad tuning?
