Speakers off Head Unit Power

Can You Hear Me Now?
I am looking to get my Dad some new speakers for his car for Father's Day.

He has a 1999 Silverado Extended Cab.

There are 6.5" speakers in the front and 4"x6" speakers in the back.

Since he will be running the speakers off head unit power i decided to stick with coaxials.

I'm just looking for some suggestions on which coaxials would run decent with only the head unit's power.

Budget: under $300 for all 4 speakers

heres some 4x6s

also on that website, check out the JLs, Polks, JBLs, Infinitys, and MB Quarts all of which are good coaxils and alot of good ones for $99 or lower!

id also tell ur dad to upgrade the HU, it'll make a difference

How about this?

Ditch the rears (or continue to run what's in there off the HU).

FRONTS:

PG RSd65cs $129

SUB:

8" Kicker CVR DVC4 $55

*** or*** buy 1 get 1 free w/free shipping $100

AMP:

Profile AP1040 $90

Run the 6.5" off the front 2 amp channels in stereo and run the sub in a small sealed enclosure off the rear 2 amp channels bridged.

TOTAL PRICE: $274

(not including sub box, wiring, line out converter, sound deadening, etc.)

Pioneer is always a good hi end \ low end budget deal.

I have brought this up to my dad already but he doesnt want a sub nor an amp. So that ditches the sub and amp idea along with the components. His left rear speakers is also blown so thats why i will be replacing the back two speakers.

a single set of front speakers with a small amp will sound 50000x better than 2 sets of speakers ran off the headunit
I agree with you 100%. I would do the same if it was my vechicle, but its not.
