Speakers in a camper

I have an '03 Lance camper, it has an am/fm/cd with 4, 6 1/2" in the ceiling. They sound like dog doo-doo. Upon inspection I found they are Emerson 200 watt and very shallow holes.....1 1/2" deep. I would like to upgrade and depth no biggie, I can get spacers. Problem is...Lance used generic, brown, unmarked speaker wire. I have no way of telling which wire is which to properly phase the speakers. Is there a way of testing the lead connections, to the speakers, to see if they are + or - ? Thanks ahead.
