Speakers hitting factory grilles

So today I noticed that when I'm listening to a more "punchy" song like RHCP Aeroplane, my Focals hit my factory speaker grilles on my front doors (cutting the factory grilles out is not an option for my car). There's no distortion, I just noticed it when I was sitting and listening to music. I decided to put my hand on the door and I can feel it. I turned them down a little, but they still manage to touch on a song like the one I mentioned. How bad is that for the speaker?

You could build a trim ring around the surround and put weather striping down between it and the door panel. Might make the panels bulge a little bit, but its better than crossing it over to 200hz.

Is reverse phase bad for the speakers in any way? I can reverse the phase for the speakers from the head unit without making any physical changes. The only downside to it is the tweeters will be reversed too if that even matters.

Someone previously mentioned reversing the phase may help. There's no way for me to trim the inside of the door panel, I guess I'm going to have to try a thinner adapter for them.
