What kind of speakers should i get for my rear deck? My stock speakers are horrible and are now shot. I have hybrid imagines at 130 watts in the front but i still want rear fill and plus it sounds stupid for passengers in the back.

SHould i get coaxials? just a midrange driver?

The car i have is a 2008 Accord.

Keep in mind. its in the Rear deck, there are no door speakers in the rear.

Thanks guys!

Yeah I have subs in the trunk. And I want are really nice front stage but enough crisp sound from the rear just for the surround effect. How can i seal the speakers in the deck? Build a box and let it hang from the trunk? Lol I just need to sound good.

I remember seeing a local basically build a box attached to the rear deck and it worked fine.

For your price range, I'd grab the Image Dynamics CTXs or Boston SCs and call it a day

You're not going to get a good surround effect without advanced processing. A typical advise for "surround sound" on rear speakers is to send to your speakers time delayed (by 20-30 ms) L-R difference signal. I heard this is what some surround sound processors such as Dolby Pro Logic do. L-R difference signal means that left speaker gets only part of the signal that exists on left but not right channel and the same for the right speaker. In this setup, any sounds that are supposed to be centered (so they exist in L and R) such as human vocals do not get sent to rear speakers. This is simplest setup. I have heard JBL's MS-8 does this, plus it sends any out of phase signals to the rear speakers as well.

Unfortunately, there aren't many head units or sound processors that can do this. JBL MS-8 is one, and I hear it's a very good one.

Regarding which speakers to put in the rear.. if you're happy with Hybrid Audio stuff, consider the Hybrid Audio Mirus coaxial speakers. They're supposed to share their design with Imagines.

this is very interesting. i may have a look into the jbl ms-8 but its so expensive and i dont have money like that right now and also do you have a link or something to more information on this rear surround technique?

i would love to have hybrid audio in my rear but again its expensive

im thinking of putting something like cadence CWM speakers or polk db651 coax or image dynamics ctx coax in the rear deck
