Speakers for my Maxima

Ya know. I tried going down that route. I ditched the rear speakers and just wasn't happy with the overall sound. Although, the frontstage sounded great. The "theater surround sound" appeals to my liking for some odd reason. No matter what I'm going to keep the rear speakers...Just wondering which type i'm going with.

I have a 2001 Maxima with the Bose system. I am going to replace the fronts with my Cdt's 6.5's. The back doors have 5 1/4's in them now. What type should I replace them with? Coaxials, 2ways? They will be amped.
Have you been to http://www.maxima.org? If not, check it out. I am a mod over there. Good info.

Anyway, I would just do fairly inexpensive coaxial speakers- maybe Pioneer REV, Polk dB series, or maybe some Alpine TypeS. I know that the 01s did not come with door speakers in them- are they aftermarket speakers? What is in your rear deck?

No I haven't. I was actually in the need for a site like that! Thanks. Well I did some research and talking with some knowledgeable people down here. I need to put all my power from the amp to the frontstage, then deaden my front doors. They all say it will sound better. My 2001 has OEM Bose speakers in the rear doors and just a 6inch mini sub in the rear deck.

Thanks dude

http://www.forums.maxima.org is the site. Just READ THE STICKY THREADS. PM me here if you have any questions- you have to havew 15 posts there to use PMs and postwhoring gets you banned.

6spdcoupe is a moderator over there as well- contact him if you have questions- he used to have a 5th gen maxima.

If you run your rears off of the HU you can run full power to the CDTs- which is what I would recommend. You will have to run new wiring to them, regardless. You cannot reuse the Bose wiring withoug a lot of work.

I thought that all 5th gens had 6.5 speakers all around, with the rears in the rear deck, not the rear doors. My 5th gen did not have the Bose, though. I would try to see if you can fit 6.5s in those rear doors through the use of a spacer.
