Speakers for jeep TJ

im putting together a system for my friend who has a tj and the last thing i gotta find are some speakers. The stock speakers are 4x6's in the dash which makes things a pita. The options ive found so far are something like the pioneer rev's in pods somewhere or Rainbow Dreamline slx 210 deluxe in the stock spot. I havnt heard of the sq of the dreamlines but i could always go with the soundline slc's if the dreamlines have a bad rep. My friend only has about $200 for speakers

Will he be running an external amp for the speakers? If not, just get the revs. If he has an amp, the Rainbow SLC's are a nice choice, and can be had for just a smidgen over $200. The PG RSd65cs are a good, low-cost alternative as well.

PGs on ebay for like $90 and a Profile amp for $85 + shipping and wires should run you a bit over $200, but will sound great!!!!

and x2 with Kross, if hes not running an amp, REVs hands down

and make the pods so you can fit a 6.5

Hmm, I'm thinking since these are going into a Jeep Wrangler, those things are so noisy inside, you might not really be able to fully appreciate the extra SQ of the Rainbows vs. the PG's.

So I would say go with the Revs if you want coaxials, and the PG if you want comps. Amp them with a Profile AP1000 for $86, and that should be a good sounding, low cost setup.

I'm sure the rev comps would sound good, too. The PG's have a reputation for having a great bang for the buck. The rev comps are priced about halfway between the PG's and Rainbow SLC's.

i can do whatever will work. Im pretty good with fiberglass. Doors are probably a no go cause he takes them off most the time. And kicks might not work cause its a 5 speed. That would leave me making a pod using the stock location or do like a center console pod for both midbasses on the ground in the middle. I did this for my other friends older wrangler and it sounded pretty good. Imaging was a little off but it still sounded pretty good

Doors off most of the time? Maybe we should go for quantity of sound, rather than quality. Phoenix Gold Ti6CompElite, and 400w per side should do the trick. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Anyway, please post pics of any custom install you do, should be interesting.

I would stay away from 4X6" if at all possible... they tend to be very inefficient.

5.25 or 6.5" coax revs in door pods if possible, and an amp would be your best bet. Those jeeps are hard. I would not rule out 6X9's in boxes in the rear if you can't get something decent in the front. Great bang for the buck efficiency and midbass.

well i decided i bought a kicker zx250.2 amp. And im gunna go take a look at his car and see if i can fit 6.5's if not im gunna go with 5.25's. Pioneer Rev comps that is.

- Excellent! If you can go 6.5", another speaker that would compete with the rev components is the Orion HCCA 6.2... they have a high end crossover and tweeter, same ones as on the PPI 356cs set. Hard to beat the revs for the price though, I can't say which set is better. Next step up from those two would be cerwin vega V-Max 65 (5.25" set is v max 5)... I would call them an entry level high end set, if you will.. but they might be a little more expensive, depending on where you are shopping.
