speakers for 2001 cavalier........

Hmm not sure if they will fit the same way as the factories. But you can make ANY 6x9 work in that car if you need to. If they dont fit where the factories did then just get some 1/4 inch spacers and mount them from the bottom. I know i did this for a set of polk momos in a cav. and they sounded great!!!

sweet. Thanks i actuallt just oredered speaker 10 minutes ago. I got some kenwood 6990ie's becuase theyre for my sisters car and i have the one higher of them and they sound great imo. Thanks though. If they dont fit, spacers can be made, especially because ill be getting box building tools this weekend. yay...

well you dont even need "plate" spacers. Just something to sit around each screw between the speaker and the rear deck lid to keep the surround from rubbing. I forget the name of what i used back in the day for this. but they worked great for spacing amps also. i will try to get a name and part # 4 you.

Yah, i thought that too. ANd i thought wrong. The cars so small and has a stock front stage so when i disconnected the rear speakers, it sounds like crap. No midbass whatsoever. I broke a tinsel lead taking the speakers out and thats the reason im buying new ones. So rear fill ftw imo.

and your opinion is based on stock speakers? no shiet its gonna sound like crap. most of the bass on a stock system will come out of the 6x9's.

have you had a legit front stage before?

so rear fill FTL.

It sounded good beofre i did this. Theres one infinity 1240 in the trunk and the stock 6x9's sounded really good actually. Its a lot cheaper to leave everything in and stock then it is to take out the rears and add a decent component set up front. I agree with a decent front stage it would sound good, but my sister cant really tell the difference between quality, so decent 6x9'z should be good.

if you have front speakers its gonna sound good. if you have rear speakers as well its gonna sound even better. i dont think it can get worse .. common sense ..
