Speakers cuts off - turns back on when turn up volume

So I have MTC Component speakers 4001 and a JVC head with a Jensen 4 channel amp. I have noticed that my left speaker in the dash (not the tweeter) will decide to stop working and if I turn the volume back up loud it kicks in again for a while. Does this on CD and AUX?? What gives??

Thanks

I'm gonna go with a bad connection. Something similar happened on my sub when I had a tinsel lead about to break. Low volumes it would cut out but if I turned it up when it had some what of a connection it would keep on beating. But if I turned it down it would cut out.

Agree'd

Alright I will run through the connections. It goes: Deck > RCA > AMP, Speakers > Speaker Wire > Crossover > AMP. Guessing it is somewhere on the connection from the speaker to the crossover. Since the tweeter will still work on the left side but not the speaker.

my bro has the same problem in his ford exp. he tested all the speakers to check for grounds etc turns out he a had a short in one wire that made all the speakers shut off at low vol but kick in at high vol

As well, it seems to me a bad connection or the mid is shot. When a speaker has blown, in some cases they will play but at high volumes only. The "force" of power arcs itself across the gap in the VC and will perform. It's still usually accompanied by a scratch sound, but some times not. I'd take a reading on the speaker to see if it's bad. As well, check all the connections and as noted above, check the tinsel leads to the speaker.
