My wife's Kia Spectra5 had some radio backlighting issues for a while. It would work very intermittently until it had gotten to a point where it never works. The radio still worked so she just put up with it.
Recently, however, the front right speaker made some light scratching noises and all of the speakers just went dead. Now the radio will turn on but that front right speaker makes a slight scratching sound and none of the other speakers work, i.e. there is no sound whatsoever other than that scratching. I pulled out the head unit and looked for any noticeable damage. I also pulled the radio fuse under the dash and the radio relay under the hood. I then unhooked the negative cable for a while, hoping that would reset the radio.
It is the original head unit. I put aftermarket speakers in a couple of years ago.
Any help with this issue would be appreciated. Any other ideas? Thanks.
