speakers clipping because of crossover?

I have 4 speakers running to a infinity 4 channel amp, but I'm only using two channels so I have the 4 speakers bridged. I'm using two crossovers for the 4 speakers. When I crank the volume too high the sound goes off (I think thats clipping) and resumes when I turn it down a little. When I connect the speakers directly to the amp this doesnt happen. I'm pretty sure this is because of the crossover. I guess its suppose to protect the speaker from blowing, but is there anyway to fix this? I like music loud sometimes..

why do you bridge a 4 channel amp to run 4 speakers?

crossover are built to "cut frequencies" and nothing more

they cut high frequencies from midrange speakers and low frequencies from tweeters

also, what;s the status of your amplifier when the sound goes off

is the amp still running or is it going to protection mode?
