what are the benefits of running bigger speaker wires to your subs? and when is necessary to upgrade your speaker wires to bigger ones?

12 GA is plenty the larger you go the less resistance across the wire. The resistance in that length of wire is nothing to worry about. I just think 8 GA looks nice.

it depends on length and amount of power ur running. I overkill on everything i do. I run 12AWG for my midbass and tweeters and 10AWG for my subs.

Many people forget, or simply dont understand, that an amplifier's output will be much higher voltage than its input power of 12-14 volts. Higher voltage = less line loss, therefore smaller wire is required. The vast majority of the time, 12ga is overkill. Unless you are an SPL competitor running tens of thousands of watts, running anything bigger is simply for looks.
