Speaker wire questions. Size

View attachment 26537172View attachment 26537172I am new to all this stuff and hope you guys can help me with a couple questions. I have 2 subwoofers that I will be using. They are Sundown Audio E-series 12". They are both 4 ohm each. I am going to hook them to a 1 ohm load to my mono amp "1200 watts rms" I will be using both voice coils. Will be 12 gauge wire going to be ok, or should I use 10 gauge.

I will need to put 2 wires together into the voice coil so it will go to the other coil etc. Is it going to be ok to do that. I just have never needed to use a voice coil with more then one wire. Will most voice coils handle 2 big wires to the coil. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for your time.

12 is fine, but 10 is better. its cheap either way so if you could get 10 go for it.

Thanks for the info. Should i buy fancy looking stuff for a car audio place. Or will be it ok, If i buy it from a hardware store. Thanks.

i think the terminals on those only fit 12

Ive seen ppl attach the wires to a brass bolt, using ring terminals. Then slide the bolt into the speaker terminal.

The more costly stuff is going to be of a higher strand count and a lot more flexible so I would go with decent car audio wire.

I certainly wouldn't buy from a hardware place. But you're going to get ripped off at a local car audio store. And 12 gauge will be plenty fine.

i picked some scoche wire up at walmart, 14 gauge. works good as well. and was pretty cheap
