Speaker wire next to power wire

Hi...I've decided to rewire my speaker installation because right now I have stock speaker wiring working with 165rms per speaker and the shop that wired it kinda did a hack job.

So I will be getting new speaker wire and rewire 4 speakers, both front and back doors. Right now I have a 1/0 run of power wire and remote on the driver side, and RCAs and speaker are on the passenger side. Up front I have comps and the crossovers are so huge that I ended up putting them under the front seats, but now I was thinking of putting them in the trunk, which means 1 extra wire run for each x-over. I have 3 pairs of RCAs, plus all the speaker wire I am not sure it would fit on the passenger side.

So would running the passenger side speaker wire along the power wire induce noise or something? Or does that power wire affect only the RCAs?

in theory it could...what kind of car do you drive, there is really not any room to run them on the other side..."they" say that the rule of thumb is 18 inches of separation between power wire and signal wire...but i have no idea where they came up with those measurements...

i have alternator noise as of now, i have redone my wiring twice to try and fix it, i'm not convinced that its the layout..so i will be redoing grounds on anything i can....

The proximity of the power wire to the RCAs or speaker wire has no bearing on noise. That is a myth dreamed up by someone with no understanding of EMI and promulgated by those of similar ignorance who simply accepted what they were told without bothering to get an explanation as to why.

Its an 04 4runner.

So I guess I will try to run the driver side's speaker wire next to the power and hope nothing whines.

Hope has nothing to do with it. Physics tells you that the DC power wire will not induce noise in the AC speaker wire. The high voltage of a speaker circuit makes it especially immune to noise anyway.

Ok, I'll believe that. I'll have 4 runs of 16g wire on each side, which will take a lot of space. Running all 8 on one side would've been a pain.

Got any links I can read to lean about the EMI stuff?
