Looking to upgrade my factory speakers. Just looking on suggestions on some of the best 6x8 or what might fit in the doors on a 2012 fusion. They'll be running on a DD 5.1000

What about just some good quality 6x8 that's the drop in size. Or am I better of getting adapters for some 5.25?

You should get an adapter for a 6.5 if anything because that's the most common size for car speakers. 6x8 is an odd size that won't give you many options.

If you can fit the depth the ID 6x9s are awesome mids.
