Speaker questions

well, i thought i knew enough to pick out good speakers for my car...but im starting to have second thoughts now and would love some explanations for me to make some good buys as far as car audio...besides just brand shopping and hoping that a good brand produces a good sound...i want to actually know what makes speakers sound good...cause just looking at better brands from what i believe is good (Blaupunkt, focal, pyle, alpine..whatever) the RMS, peak ratings, and freq ranges dont really seem too much different between brands but knowing that some sound a lot better than their competition...i want to actually KNOW what to look for in a good set of speakers and know for a fact that something is good because of its specs and materials its made out of...not just brand....would someone be able to explain speakers too me?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think a lot of it is user preference. A lot of SQ guys are really picky and biased, but for the everyday guy it's a different story. There are so many different options. I'd go to some stores and listen to speakers and see which ones you like. Look for stuff like how the tweeters sound and how you like the midbass, etc... Either way, you might want to get some components so you can have more control over your sound.

after reading some of the threads on here im pretty sure im going to get some active component speakers, and the speaker sizes i need are 4" and 5 1/4" and 1" tweeters, i have an aftermarket HU, off-hand without going out and looking at it i dont know the model but its a pioneer with the motorized screen (something like AVH-P5000DVD that might actually be it) and theres a 900 watt amp which idk how many channels it is or who makes it because all these things came with the car when i bought it

If your new to this you may want start with a good component set and amp see how you like it your set, an active setup requres alot of tuning and for an active 3way you will need a total of 6channels of amp outputs.

im not completely new to car audio but i want to get more technical with it...is tuning an active component like easy to do but just takes time or? and as far as getting an amp for the speakers how well powered should it be considering the power of the component set?
