Source for highest-end equipment?

Exactly ... but it's very unreasonable to do that, so they don't do it, aka a limitation. Very much like the limitation I've decided on.
Man, think outside the box a little here ... I've already acknowledged this is not the perfect plan or setup, but that it sounds very good to me right now (who else matters??), I just want louder ... and all you want to do is hammer on me to add front speakers. I get it ... I understand that particular recommendation ... but I'm not doing it.

Look ... I've sat down several friends in my truck, all music lovers but not audiophiles, and they agree that it friggin' rocks as-is. It is near the edge of being able to go too loud now, I just want a little more.

You know, nevermind ... I'm done with this. This is going round and round to nowhere. Obviously I need more speakers, or bigger speakers, and more power. I'll figure it out on my own.
You sir, are a douche.

Stop Italicizing and Bolding everything you ****ing tool. You and your friends think it sounds good, odds are, it doesn't. Listen to a good system and compare it to yours and you will realize this. Stop being so god **** lazy and just replace it all.. **** homie

if ca.com says it sounds good, odds are, it doesn't.

There's no reason for it. Why ask for advice if you are hell bent on screwing stuff up? There's no advice anybody would care to give that would screw your sound up any more. Oh and there are people in this very thread with 10's in their front doors.

Louder is easy. Get an amp at least twice the power as you have. Now you can power the crap out of some coaxes in the back of your tuck because you don't want to research swapping out the fronts. Jeez, I'll leave it to you but I can't suggest you follow your heart on this one:)

I never said to put a sub up front but you used it as an example of what is not done...its done.

Wow, I wasn't even looking for typing advice, but thanks. When a responder seems to have missed what I already wrote, or missed the point, I like to bold and/ or italicize ... i.e. if it didn't get thru the first time, maybe some neon lights will help. Not sure what else bold and italics are for? Note though that since bolding and italics bother you, I have not used them in this response; You're welcome.

I don't need to listen to another system; I like mine. I just want it louder: Pretty simple to me. I also don't need you (or anyone else) to tell me whether or not mine sounds good; I'm the only judge that matters. I ride in my truck alone probbly 98% of the time. Not entering any contests.

you want help but you dont want to do anything anyone tells you to do

stop underlining and bolding all of that shit and quit being fucking lazy and replace your front door speakers

Not true ... I simply don't want to follow the "add front speakers" advice. There are other audio system parameters that people could offer advice on.

Wow this is fun. (no bold or italics again ... I'm really holding back)

shears, a jig saw, or a grinder can easily change some limitations //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thanks for being civil at least, as opposed to other posters here. Don't think I've been called a tool before, so at least I got that now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I do understand a sub could certainly be put up front, I just meant not very often. Am I wrong? Like what percentage of people on this site have 10" subs up front? I'm jealous if people are figuring out reasonable ways to fit subs up front these days!!

I think that one day you'll find yourself unhappy. You have to understand HOW LONG it took me to be happy with my system. How many thousands of dollars getting partially there..but not fully pulling the trigger....then having to start again.

You have a nice vehicle. I understand how intimidating it can be to do something to your precious and expensive ride. There's no reason to make a noticeable change to your vehicle. A set of components, properly installed, WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY.

I digress, however, because I understand that you feel you're right. Monitor what you buy and prepare to back up and start over and all will be fine. Deadening may very well give you the impression of loudness that you want. Add road noise and everything seems quiter but even parked it will reduce panel flex. That means you are powering your speakers, not the interior of the vehicle's rattles (energy must go somewhere, make it your ears;))

No, not very often. Just SQ folken. This is part of the quest you'll need to decide on...SQ or SPL.

Next person to say SQL will get a voice coil jammed down his RTA since it isn't really in existence...and is kinda silly (everybody wants their shit loud only a few of us have the patience to make it sound loud AND GOOD).

If you want to put subs up front...start with some speakers:D

Thanks again for the patience with me a noob. I have actually already deadended both rear doors, against the outside panels and inner speaker mounting panel surfaces, with Second Skin Damplifier regular (installed it on nearly every resonant surface I could tap on and hear), sealed all the holes, and filled with polyfil. See, I'm telling you, it sounds very good right now, again to me anyway ... I'd just like more volume.

I'm with you. I will probably have to try to make some improvements (more watts, more sub, etc.), see how it sounds, and change again if necessary.

My original idea was to make this as portable as possible, so I could take the amp and sub out very easily, maybe even just leave the wires laying there (or snip 'em off), but just leave the Alpines in the rear doors (only $100) and trade in my vehicle ... like if I had a leased car. This way I wouldn't have to tear it all apart to get my $3K system out of every nook and cranny.

Maybe it's just unrealistic to expect a semi-portable system to be loud even with a lot of wattage.

Thanks again ... and I think we're finally done with this issue.

just put some good spring loaded clamps on your box and unhook the sub whenever the time comes. If you do the amp right then that's no biggy. You may want to be sure to put some kind of switch on your rmote wire to turn the amp off when not in use.

I'm going to get back to the need for high-end equipment. At this point, other than drivers, I'd not look into high end gear at all. Look at price per wat, basically. Size requirements and budget issues are probablky a much better consideration than brands. If you get 1200 watts for $50...better question that but use your best judgement.

If you get into true tuning and active amplification, I'd strongly suggest home drivers from partsexpress or madisound.

There you'll find a much better performance/dollar value.
