Source for highest-end equipment?

Where do people get the highest-end car audio equipment, like stuff that wins SPL and SQL contests?

I'd love to find a source where if I buy something from them I know it's about the best you can get. Not sure that exists?

There is no "best" per se. It's all in the install.

Yes I am a noob. But the question still stands, and I don't think Wal-Mart is the answer.

back on topic, you can get some stuff from like soniclectronix.com or alot of the the time the manufacturers website. ie you can only get new aq stuff from the aq website. and alot of them you have to go to authorized dealers that sell it (ie a shop)

I've personally seen sony xplodes purchased at a local walmart do over 150 db. Again, it's all in the install.

Don't go to crutchfield or Bust Buy, you'll get *** ***** on the price and won't have much to show for it..

It sounds like you have no idea what your looking for or where to start. I suggest you make a budget first, then go to the classifieds here and find some equipment used. That way, you'll outgrow it eventually and by then you'll figure out what you want.

Nothing wrong with crutchfield actually.. fantastic customer service.. super fast shipping and they are an authorized reseller for everything they sell. Meaning you get full warranty from the manufacturer.

I never said they weren't all of that, but with all of that comes higher price.

Thank you sir - Now that's what I was hoping to read.

I do have a very good idea of what I want to do, just wanted to know generally the best places to look for near-or-at top-of-the-line equipment.

And, I prefer to plan things backwards I guess: Start with the absolute best I can possibly come up with regardless of price, then back down from there until it is affordable.
