Soundstream Amps

I have a soundstream tx1.2000d wired at 1 ohm and so it supposedly puts out "2000"watts, and im pretty sure that it doesnt, hardly any amps do rated which is sad but whatever. so does anyone here have any experience with soundstream amps? im just curious as to how close they actually are to what they say. i know it depends on the series and the specific model, but if anyone has any knowledge about this, let me know thanks. and yah i know i can clamp it to find out, but i dont know how to do that yet so i dont want to worry about it for now

Hardly any amp does rated?? Wtf..... We're you referring to them always putting out more or less because there are plenty of amps that do rated and plenty more that will do more then rated

im just saying that when i was looking and many class d amps around the 2000 and up watt range from all brands, i was told a lot that certain brands were more accurate and some brands were not really putting out as much as they said they did. i also have a list of clamped amps from a forum that shows that some brands are more accurate than others Post your clamped numbers. - Car Audio Classifieds

but you also have to take into account rise and voltage drop....alot of that shows the drop in voltage and the rise of the box......they do there rated powers and even with box rise some are still putting out decent power for there ratings...

thats a good point, and im not gonna lie, i dont know what any of that means, i know what voltage and ohms are, but i dont know anything about ohms rising and box rise

When the sub starts moving it changes the resistance of the sub or subs in different boxes at different frequencys. By multiplying the amperage of the speaker wire a by the voltage coming from the speaker terminal you get wattage dividing the two gives the resistance. By taking this into account even if a amp does rated you most likely won't see it unless your on a particular test tone. Realize the closer you get to resonant frequency the higher the impedance rise. So in other words buying 3 different amps that are rated 2000 watts even if they do rated you probably won't see it. How do you think alot of people run these big monster amps on these 600 to 1000 watt subs.

That thread shows quite a bit of very impressive numbers, especially considering ohm rise and voltage drop... notably, the sundown 1200d making the rated power of 1ohm, at the 2ohm rise and voltage drop. That's beast.

Yes, a lot of the cheap mainstream amps don't make rated power. However, there are loads and loads of amps that make at LEAST rated power, if not more. Soundstream is a brand known for making their rated power. So while yours is likely putting out 2000w, at 1ohm and 14.4v.... it's usually seeing an impedance rise closer to 2ohms, and below 14v of power.
