SoundSplinter RL-i series

How does the RL-i series of woofers compare to the rest of the SoundSplinter line up in terms of sound quality. I'm really not concerned with volumes above normal listening levels (no more than about 120db in car above ~30hz).

The woofers will be glassed in their own seperate enclosures (one on each side of the trunk) and will be ported. Box volume will be around .85 cubic feet.

I have an RL-i 8 and it is a very solid woofer. The RL-i series is not meant for super high SPL, it is meant for a versatile daily driver that does not need goobs of power.

As denim mentioned, the RL-i is a great driver with sound quality as it's goal. You mentioned you wanted at least 120dB @ 30Hz but you didnt mention what size drivers you are looking for or how many (although it sounds like a pair). Let us know that info and we can give you a better idea if the RL-i's will work for you.

I've been modeling RL-i 10 in 1.4 cubic feet gross tuned to 30hz. I'd have two seperate boxes of this size with 1 RL-i10 in it each. I'd feed them 550 watts each. I think that would get me close to what I want, as I'm not really looking to wake the dead.

The Fr curve is reasonably flat, the box size is reasonable. The only thing that urks me is the ports length, but I think I'm just going to have to get creative and make it work.

I want to have 1 enclosure on each side fo the trunk, for symmetry and so that I could still make use of the folding seats. I think it would look pretty good if I could pull it off.
