I've had a RL-i8D4 for over a year now. Anyways, the bug has bitten again so I'm gonna make a new one soon. Just regular MDF.

I am going to port it through my rear deck so the port will not displace anything within the enclosure most likely (or if it does it won't stick but a few inches inside). My main question is what internal volume will work best for tuning to 30Hz using a 2"x11" aero? I was planning on doing 0.75cf before displacements so it'd be around 0.65-7 by the time displacements are accounted for.

What is everyone running spec wise with the RL-i8? Thanks. It'll be getting around 300-400WRMS.

They recommend .3 net. I emailed the owner...Mike I think? He told me I could go bigger to .5 or .6 but it was gonna be peaky. Have you moddled it? I remember at .6 I could get it pretty flat at like 27.5 tuning or something......Lemme look and see if I can find my models for it.

.6 to .65 seems like the magical displacment for a fairly flat response. i've ran mine is as much as 1.25ft @ 33hz for spl, and i can't remember the specs on the transmission line. mostly mine resides in .17ft^3 sealed.

I had mine in a horn for a little while, but the design had a mistake and there was a sharp drop off in response in the middle of the range.

I have tried many... I think .55 is the best although I have not tried .60

It is the best small sub I have ever owned though, thats for sure

almost seems worthless to build an entire enclosure for 0.55cf...might as well get another rli8..but then id need a new amp for ~700WRMS @ 4ohms..
