Oh, and I was talking to a friend of mine who works at Tweeter. A 12sf pack of Dynamat Extreme for him is $40 with the employee discount. 20sf of SS Damplifier is $50
Secondskin = Win.

Ant, since you're around, does spectrum spray stick to plastic?
Yes.

I used a paintbrush and it will stick to door panels if that is what you are asking. It is a really nice product and it has a very sweet smell. Very easy to apply. My only suggestion would be to get rid of that cardboard cap that comes with the quarts.

Spectrum does stick to plastic but can easily be pealed off.

The adhesion is not permanent.

Actually, there is not a water based damper in the world that will adhere to plastic permanently, regardless of what the manufactures advertise.

There are companies out there that have spent countless dollars trying to develop additives to insure adhesion but nothing works.

For plastic panels, apply a layer of a CLD like Damplifier, Dynamat Extreme, Hushmat etc. This will give you better results anyway. Even if Spectrum could work well with plastics, I would still go with a foil backed butyl damper instead.

Hope that helps!

The option of sticking around isn't up to him //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

After re-reading this thread, I am inclined to ask.

Was it absolutely necessary to ban this member?

I can understand perhaps giving him an infraction (this is a vbulletin board right?)

But is banning him forever necessary?

I have not read the forum terms/agreement in quite some time so I am not sure what protocol is, but it seems as though he is trying to make amends for hat he did.. from the brief replies I read prior to banning..

Perhaps you can let him isgn up as a new member to let him say his peace, then we can all vote?

Not my forum so I'll go with whatever the mods decide but it seems like a banning might be kind of harsh.

Thoughts?

I for one like to have everything out in the open. Maybe let him re-register as Cascade Rep (or something similar).

Second Skin Rep: what the hell does better than the best mean? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

It works good enough. I guess it depends on flex. I am just a user though, I am sure your tests are more rigorous than my few hits with a paint brush. I didn't see no instance where it peeled off on its own

I never saw the guy trying to make good here, all I saw was someone trying to use the excuse that heck, nobody ever tells who they are around here anyway. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif Clearly he was trying to pull the wool over our eyes, I say good riddance.

Why is he not allowd to post? I mean Second Skin is able to post too?
is it because Ant doesnt go around marketing and that guy was trying to?
He is banned because he signed up as a run-of-the-mill user and blatantly spamed the forum by "recommending" his brand/products in 80%+ of his posts while posing as a general enthusiast and not a company representative (or otherwise affiliated with a manufacturer). That is flat out spamming and IMO ethically wrong from a business stand point. It wasn't until Ant (I believe) recognized that he was a Cascade employee/rep/whatever, and that this is the same general behavior he has exhibited other forums aswell. If that is the type of behavior we can expect, and as evidenced by past behavior it is exactly what we can expect, then he is not an individual or manufacturer rep we want on this forum and is not welcome here.

If he had come here with maturity and respect he would have been welcomed.

But that is not the way he presented himself to the forum.

Keep in mind that I didn't ban him because of this thread.....he was banned because of his actions of spamming the forum with his company's products while hiding behind the guise of an enthusiast rather than his company affiliation. And that is a perma-ban offense.

I have not read the forum terms/agreement in quite some time so I am not sure what protocol is, but it seems as though he is trying to make amends for hat he did.. from the brief replies I read prior to banning..
He only "came clean" and "made amends" after it was pointed out that he was displaying behavior similar to someone on another forum who was a Cascade employee. He didn't "come out", he was "found out".....HUGE difference.

Prior to that he was spamming the forum, which is a blatant violation of TOS and not tolerated in the slightest.

Perhaps you can let him isgn up as a new member to let him say his peace, then we can all vote?
As above...with his exhibited immature and childish behavior he is not a member we would want to welcome to the forum.

Exactly.

Not that you need my approval squeak, but I agree with you totally.

I remember a similar incident many years ago now. Gary Kovener of Kove Audio actually paid people to come to the boards and pose as non-biased, ordinary consumers... who happen to love Kove products. Talk about slime-ball tactics, I was appallled when that came to light. Gary was run off the board on a rail. Now this, seems very similar to that situation. I honestly can say Im shocked at it, I would have never expected such a thing from a company like Cascade.

Thanks squeak for standing up for our right to know the truth here, rather than just kiss a manufacturer's *** and hope he stays like alot of ppl/mods would do.

Exactly.

Thank you for clarifying that.

It all makes sense to me.

I was only thinking of a younger version of myself that could have used a break back when I was a less than desireable member.

I thought a second chance would be appropriate but I can see your point.

On a side note, what if, Doug, the owner of Cascade decided to come onthe board. New guy, new screen name, different behavior?

He would certainly be welcome correct?

ANT

If they wanted to have a presence on the forum, they should have chosen a more mature way of going about it.

I don't have a problem with Doug registering on the forum if he wishes....but he better make damn sure that he is the only one posting on the forums and does so with maturity. First time I or any other mods catch even a hint of product promotion they are gone for good.

It's bad enough I have to sit here and babysit normal users....it's just pathetic when I have to babysit what I used to think was a respectable company's access to the forum.........

And yes....being a mod tends you make you a tad bitter over certain issues //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
