sound system for my car

i have a 2000 mustang...and i want to install a sound system in it... im going for alpine type R's for everything...im going to get 2 subs and 4 component speakers for the doors and back....my question is for if you guys can help me get the best setup for my car...

heres what i have/want

...i have a DUAL head unit (that i wont be changing)...it has 55x4 max and 17x4 rms..

i want to get two subs for my trunk...they will probably be 500 watt rms each (and like i said before they'll be alpine type R's)

what kind of amplifier setup will i need and what brand is good(mono, 4 channel...how many watts)....should i hook up the amp to the other 4 speakers or will they be fine ( i also dont want to have just bass....i want to hear the other frequency sounds) and how many watts should the other 4 speakers be.......should i aim the subs pointing to the front or the back....what sub enclosure do i need for best sound quality (ported, airtight, dimentions?)...should i get stiffening caps.......basically...what is the best setup for me.....thanks in advance....i know this is a lot....

Where is mass. are you located at? Feel free to pm me if you don't want to say on the forums. I am near western mass.

I have a 2000 mustang as well, and can answers any questions you could possibly have on installing sound systems in mustangs.

how set are you on that? the R comps are pretty crappy, if u wanna stay alpine, you'd be best going with a set of type X comps up front (they will fit, you just gotta make a baffle adapter from some MDF) powered by a mrp-f250 or so

and looking for SQ you might also want to look at the type X subs

i was looking at the JL audio website and some of the speakers there.

i was wondering....

which Alpine speakers/subs are the best (type r's, type x's)?

which JL audio speakers/subs are the best(W7's)?

if the two were put side by side...which sub/speaker would be better...and which would have more value for the money?

i was really set on the type r's but once i saw the stuff on the JL audio site...im starting to think that JL audio is better... i need some hard evidence on this to decide...i dont just want opinions...

thanks

ps:i live on the east...15 mins from boston (with no traffic of course, which there always is)

one more thing...say i get the best speaker(power wise)...say 2000 watt subs.... how will that go with the small speakers that i would get for my doors and back...will i still be to hear the sounds or will the powerful subs kill off the puny speakers ....

and i just thought of something else....whats the difference of having one or two subs in the back of my car...does it hit harder when there are two...couldnt i just sombine the money from the two and get one thats twice as good as the other two????
