Sound deadning

is that pad cuttable? there is a ridge that sticks out like an inch behind my speaker so i couldn't mount that pad flush on the back of my speaker.
Yes, it feels like jello but stronger and tastes worse. Think of it like a large piece of sandwich meat. It is a great sound absorber for all freq, look up dynasorb, same type thing.

is that foam similar to secondskin's luxury liner? would it work well for reducing road noise if i put a layer over deadening in my hatch and possibly doors. and would it adhere well with simply 3m adhesive? seems like it would come off very easy.

Not sure about roadnoise I would think that dynamat would be best for roadnoise and that soft rubber stuff would work but I've never seen big sheets of it and it is expensive

foam with 1 sticky side (egg crate like)

i think i'll just go with the foam since it's only $7.

Definitely worth it to protect the speaker. However, I'd probably cut the bottom out of it, so it doesn't act as an enclosure
And that would be bad, acting as an enclosure? I am new to this audio stuff. I have a 01 Jeep Cherokee and am going to replace the front and rears with Infinity 6002i's. Just wanting to do it right the first time...

yep, thats bad

most speakers are designed to play in an Infinite Baffle situation

if you cut the bottoms out of them wouldn't that make them useless? water will still get on your speakers then. i was thinking about getting them things because i took my speakers out and had a chunk of ice on the magnet.

well, moisture from the air can still get in, but it cant drip on them from above which definitely helps

Just thought i'd add my 2 cents on the whole deadening concept.

I recently did double layers of eDead v1 in my friends 2001 Forester and it helps loads. I would definitely reccomend putting deadener on literally every nook and cranny though. Cover any nonfunctional door holes, but if you do so, put sound deadener on all the metal BEHIND the door holes too if taht makes sense.

I have a few questions if you dont mind.

I understand where to apply the edead in the door panel, but where would that piece of foam go? and how does the foam seal the door off more than the edead?
