Sound Deadner Questions

I have installed my double din Eclipse AVN 6600, sub, amp and built the box for it all but that all seems like cake walk compared to actually putting deadner in my car. I am just to lazy to want to pull up all the carpet and take out all the seats. How much would I be looking at to get a shop/someone to do this for me? Would it be cheaper to buy say RAAMATT and have them install it or just go with whatever product they use?

I hope you REALLY trust the shop, otherwise you are likely to find that they only do what they think they can get away with and since you don't wanna pull up your carpet, how will you ever know?

Me, I just had a system installed to save me the work and am SO sorry I didn't just do it myself. I am gonna have to uninstall it all anyway to do the deadening that was promised and was never done or was done half-assed. I take some solace in the fact that the out the door price was still less than the retail cost of the equipment they installed but they took so many shortcuts that I have to take all the stuff out and reinstall it anyway.

Do yourself a favor and just order some Second Skin, block off a weekend (got two 3-day weekends coming up anyway) and do it yourself.

Pride in a job well done, peace of mind knowing it was done right, saving enough money to buy yourself a nice system upgrade of your choosing... FTMFW!!!

I'm installing my Raamat right now and it is WONDERFUL. Very easy to work with //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Just got the second layer on the back wall and about to put ensolite on. As for getting someone at a shop to do it, they will probably charge a good bit. The car really isn't all that large but it will take a little time to take apart. And if you are worried about not being able to put it back together, there really isn't much to it. Just keep the nuts and bolts that you take out in a container until you are through. I would just get out and try it. Take one piece apart at a time. It only goes back one way so it really isn't that difficult. Also I would use a quality product. I would just send Rick an email and go ahead and get it ordered. He will tell you about how much you need and all.

shops around my area charge around 75.00/50.00 an hour taking everything out cleaning, spary rust down, install. and put back which will be high in hours also a hole day if busy
x2, only shop here I would trust to do my deadening charges $80/hr. It's gonna take at least a good 4-5 hours if they are just doing 1 layer everywhere and have at least 2 people working on it. Plan on spending more than $500 if ur gonna do the whole car at a good shop. And thats just labor

Also just get a digital camera so u can take pictures of the parts u take off.

hmmm you guys are slowly convincing me to tear apart my new car, i dont know if i should be happy or sad.
You should be happy!!! You will be saving lots of $$$$$ I just got through putting 1 layer on my floor about to start the second and got the 3rd door and other rear panel done.

As stated before, most new vehicles just snap in place. Kinda hard to screw that up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I will probably have bout 5-6 hours in it by myself and I have a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado Ext. Cab

I had a high quaility shop that I trust my children with do my doors and my trunk. Its pricy. . . For Damp Pro i paid 300 for 1 box for install (36 sq. ft). Did the doors and some trunk. I just now bought 200 sq feet of damp pro./overkill/heat wave from them. I plan on doing this myself. People say they enjoy doing it. . I am hoping I will! Look at about 20-30 hrs for a real through job with multiple layers.
20-30 Hours????? That's just crazy. I did my whole truck today with mat and it took me about 6 hours. My back wall has 2 layers, my floor has 1 main layer and in places has up to 3 additional where needed. My doors have 1 layer on the inside outer door skin, 1 layer on the inner door skin. Unless you are planning on doing an all out spl vehicle 20-30 hours is crazy. You only put it where you need it. Once you tap it and hear a thud you are through. Putting more layers on top of that is just a waste of money. Also ensolite foam is good to glue on top of the matt as well.

it really isn't that hard to do. just take your time and be gentle. and get yourself a set of Torx bits. if you don't know what they are, start saving money and calling some shops :p
