Sound Deadening

go to http://www.mmxpress.com. they sell dynamat and cascade, both awesome sound deadening equipment. i personally keep dynamat in business, yeah right but i have bought about 900 dollars worth of that stuff, i just buy it all at work so i only paid a third of that. go online and look around mmxpress has the cheapest prices on both of those that i have seen.

honestly i haven't used cascade. now i don't know if i believe what they say about it being better b/c i have between 100 and 120 sq. ft. of dynamat in my car with close to 1200 watts of power and the only thing that rattles badly is the tailgate window and i can't help that. i mean my doors are like concrete you knock and instead of hearing "ting" you hear a solid "thud". as for the spray i need to find some quality stuff to put in my tailgate and on my fender's, but i think that stuff is good just expensive.

Originally posted by bass monkey hey there, i just got a question about this. if i was to put some filling on the inside of my truck. would i lose some bass, like make it quieter? and would that make the sq better?

By filling I assume you mean dynamat or something of that nature. no you wouldn't lose any bass. Well maybe outside of the car you would. But not inside the car. In fact it will probably sound better due to less resonation of the sheet metal. Not to mention the bonus of how quiet it can make your ride. it really cuts down on the road noise. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

hey i got a question for all you people out there. why is it that people assume if you hear more outside when the guy has his windows down versus if another guy's car isn't quit as loud outside that people think the other system is louder?? i always thought it was more sound inside the better and the more outside doesn't that mean your losing more pressure so it isn't as loud outside??

specifically the canned spray stuff.
I like it. I used the VB-1 on my winter beater last year. And it worked great. I used a paint gun and went to town. I used 2 gallons in a little 2 door chevy tracker convertible:) and that's all the deadening I used. The only road noise I have now is the convertible top flapping in the wind. Anyway it goes on pretty easily. And it dries just like paint. Just make sure to mask any thing off you don't want it on. Once it's there it takes some doing to get it off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Im only planning on doing my car with the spray deadening and I was just planning to get something like 2 of the 20 oz. spray cans. The only thing that rattles/flexes bad is the panels behing the rear speakers and under the spare tire.

would these cans be alright for this usage or should I just by some of the mat stuff and a spray can? Thanks.

My car is a 1991 Honda CRX hatchback, its quite small.

I would probably just use the mat. It would be just as easy dealing with the area your talking about. It shouldn't take very much mat to dampen those area's. Probably about 10-20 square feet. Come to think of it the mat might be a little cheaper than the spray //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

kinda hate doing it, but I think its a viable option.

we have a GB going on SIN for a 40sq. ft. roll right now for 45 bux on eDead, might be something to look into.

Personally I find mat a whole lot easier to work with, it's less messy, and doesn't stink near as bad (especially the self adhesive stuff).

Ben

well that is a good price but I have no clue where you are talkin about.

way too many acronyms maybe use the whole word??

hehe.

For the mat should I buy just like a kit or should I buy a sheet?
