sound deadening

after its in its in im not ripping shit out unless im going a different way these **** boxes are going to be ****ing heavy

i just figured sound deadedening would keep the air in the van more than sheet metal

In theory, deadening will reduce flex and vibration, which both absorb energy. That should help with SPL.

For what I have (not an SPL setup), my Explorer metered pretty high (146.9). I credit most of that to the deadening. I covered my entire Explorer, besides the dash, with a little over 200 sq ft. I used 3 layers on all 4 doors and the hatch, 2 layers on the front floorboards and rear wheel wells, and two on most of the roof. I used 1 layer everywhere else, with the only exception being behind the dash. You'd probably need at least another 100 sq ft or so if you really want to do it right.

not SPL but its louder than a jet engine sorry lol:laugh:

Well, it's all relative. It's **** loud, but not compared to what I would consider an SPL setup. I don't have a giant box and I'm not running a ton of power. Anyway, I really think the deadening is a factor. It definitely sounds better, although I realize that isn't really what the op is going for.

I am just finishing my old ramcharger and 180 sq. ft. did the entire truck (2 layers in certain spots) except for the roof, gonna order more n finish that later down the road. basically i agree with thunderbird, but its probably gonna be closer to 300. by the way I would use raamat or the thicker edead stuff(what i used on most of my truck), I like the dynomat extreme(what i used on my doors) the best but it s gonna be expensive for 300 sq. ft.

I forgot some astros dont have any windows on the sides and sometimes the back either.how is yours? if it has no windows in the back it may be a little over 300
