I'm going to order alot of secondskin, and i'm wondering about how much I really need to stop the pesky rattles in the trunk of my 98 Malibu without going overboard or underboard.?

I doubt you'll need 100 ft^2 for a trunk alone. Think more along the lines of 40 - 60 ft^2 perhaps with some expanding foam and "rattle pad" product as well.
