Sound Deadening Questions

I'm going to try and get my dad to split the cost of buying a shit load of secondskin and was wondering how much you would recommend me to get. He's has a G35 coupe and wants the quite his ride, so I would assume he would need to mat just about his whole car to really quite out his ride. Then I need enough to do my two front doors, finish my trunk(had bought a fat mat trunk kit but didn't quite get my whole trunk done), and maybe some to do the rear deck. How much would you say I need there? Also, will that make a substantial difference in my dad's car or would Infiniti already deaden the car? If my dad didn't mat his whole car where would be the key area's to do to have the most gains, the doors and floor? Sorry to make this so long.

Thanks for the help

If your dad's goal is to quiet his ride, he is going to want to use foam and/or liquid deadener. The mat is primarily to stop vibrations and resonances, not to actually block and reflect soundwaves. Liquid is a decent combination of both...works as a mass loader to stop vibrations/resonances, and also has okay barrier loading properties (absorb/reflect sound waves). Then there is open and closed cell foams, whose sole purpose in life is to absorb/reflect sound waves. This is where the main decrease in noise comes from.
