Ok, i figure i should prolly sound deaden my trunk since i'm puttin an SX in there and i have a few questions.

-First off, when i take the carpeting off there is a layer of insulation on the floor of my trunk, will it be fine just putting the sound deadener on this or am i going to have to do a hell of alot of scraping?

-Second, when i put the sound deadener on (gonna go with eDead v1se) does it have a sticky layer on it or do i need to get some kind of glue?

-Third, What should i use to smooth it out? Just use my hands or should i get some kind of roller?

Alright, that should be it, if i think of something else i'll put it up here.

remove the insulation. make sure to clean the surface with rubbing alcohol. the edead has an adheisive backing. what you want tp do though is heat it up with a heat gun or hair dryer. you need to use a roller. a walpaper roller for a dollar will work.

that "insulating" stuff is prolly your factory sound deadening you can leave it on or scrape it off

you should get a roller to smooth out the deadener a heat gun helps to make it more workable

I don't know the answer to your second question

beat me to it^^^

1 - You'll have better results if you scrape the factory deadening up and put the eDead directly on the metal.

2 - Yep, its got sticky stuff. Watch out for the edges of the foil flakko just posted this (post#11) in another thread.

3 -Ahh crap flatlander and iceteebone said it all first.

i believe the insulation he is talking about, is that padding that goes underneath carpeting in a house. my car had that and it just pulled out easily.
Nah, this shit is stuck on good, it'll take me hours to get all that off, thats y i was hoping i could put the edead on over it.

What kinda car is it? Sounds like it must be fancy luxury car.
Haha, right, fancy luxury car. If you consider a 93 sable a fancy luxury car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif .

Anyways here's a pic of the stuff, the best i could get

insulation.jpg

The stuff is white speckled with a little black, and a has the texture close to that of an orange, in that pic a little bit is scraped away and in the inside is some kind of dense brown stuff. I seriously have no clue how i'd get that stuff off if i had to it is glued on there tight.

Oooohhh Ford with their "We've got a better way to do it" attitude. Maybe you should try just sticking it over it. Maybe spray a liquid deadener right into the carpet stuff?

Hmm, how much does a liquid deadener cost and where can i get it? Ohh, and it's not carpet stuff, it is quite hard actually, nothing like carpet. Had to scrape it away with a knife.
