I have a 1987 Grand Marquis.. yep, old car, and a biggg car. It rattles pretty good with just my 1 12" sub in there.. and i'm about to put a 2nd one in there, so I wanna get some sound deadening products.

What do you guys recommend as a 'bang for my buck' product?

I've been looking at Damplifier from Second Skin audio.. i'm just interested as to what you guys use for your car and the prices and stuff.

i used damplifier for mine, worked great, did what it was supposed to do, and it was easy to work with. raammat is a great choice also. i think with the discount, damplifier is pretty close to the price per sq. ft. of raammat (1.92 (40 sq. ft. with 20% discount) vs. 1.90). pick one and go with it, can't go wrong with either.

raamat has worked very well for me and rick is a great guy to deal with. 20 sq feet might be enough to do your trunk depending on how liberally you put it on. I used about 60 sq feet on just my doors, so it can definately vary. In a bigger car you might need more. I have some cheaper stuff for sale if your looking to save some money. Here is the thread. There is about 30 feet in the roll im selling.

walmart, foam padding in the bedding section (egg carton looking stuff). use it with the sound deadening. stuff it in between the panels and line the rest of the trunk with it. it will almost stop all rattles....unless they are on the outside of the car.

This seems like a good thread to pose a question of mine-

Has anyone seen the Blue can expanding foam? It is supposedly used when you don't want the foam to puch hard enough to move, bend, or disform the stuff around it. I was thinking about wrapping my windows in plastic, rolling them down, then filling the door with this stuff.

I would then use either a liquid deadener or sheet deadener to cover the door panels, perhaps adding some supports along the inside that rest tighty agains the door sheeting.

Is this a good idea to quiet my ride and stop door rattles?

i wouldn't recommend it. like it was said, it would get into everything it's not supposed to...leaving your windows non-functional. you could gut out the door so you just have a shell, but then you'd still need room to re-install all the components and window. you could try that insulation that has the plastic wrap around it and stuff it in the door. also that cascade audio spray or even rustproofing are some other options.
