So I'm thinking about sound deadening my car. I'm going to be using fatmat. Their ratings are 50 mil and 80 mil. I'm not familar with size ratings so I was wondering if someone could help me out with that. How thick is 50 and 80 mil like on a ruler???

A mil is another word for a thousandth of an inch. So 50 mil is .050" thick.
I don't know if Fatmat changed their product, but they used to be exactly the same as Peel & Seal, which is something you don't want in your car. I'd go with RAAMmat BXT myself.

Check out http://www.SoundDeadenerShowdown.com for more info.
FatMat has changed owners, but hasn't changed formulas. The new owner attacked me on another forum for saying it shouldn't be used in a car. I challenged him to explain how FatMat was different than Peel & Seal. He disappeared.

I wouldn't waste my time.
