I'm working on getting all the parts for my system (just waiting on my 15" Brahma to get here after a week with fedex //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif ) . I am planning on doing some sound deadening to my doors as well as trunk. First off, about how much sound deadener am I going to need to do the entire car (roof, doors, floor, and trunk)? Is it really worth doing all this to my car or should I just plan on deadening the trunk and the doors? Then there's the question of how much all this is going to cost. And maybe if I can't afford to get all the deadener I want right now I could just get the bare necessities.

edit: the car i'll be installing this in is a 2002 nissan altima. basically a midsize sedan

http://www.secondskinaudio.com GREAT STUFF, GREAT PRICE!

I'd concentrate on your trunk the most if you don't have $$ to do the whle car.. The most energy is released thru the trunklid itself, i was told that by an anonymous creator of a certain damping company who is a member of this site, no more info is needed about that though

with the way sound damping is priced these days, its kinda hard not to go all out.

for your car 150 would be a nice solid foundation.

in order of spl and sq importance it goes like this

1st 50 feet

2 layers trunk lid

1 layer rear wall trunk

1 layer license plate

1 layer rear dash

4 layers front doors ea. 2 inner skin, 1 ea. side of outer skin

2nd 50 feet

1 more layer trunk lid

2 layers trunk walls

2 layers trunk floors

2 more layer rear dash, 1 on top 1 underneath total 3 layers now

3rd 50 feet

2 layers entire floor of car

2 layers walls of car

2 layers firewall

If you can only afford 50 feet, go with the first section

if you can afford 100 feet

go with suggestions 1 and 2

you got cabbage? roll will all 3

Alright I have a question, my gas tank rattles pretty bad and I was wondering if I put enough SS on there would the rattle go away or would I have to drop the tank and put it on top of it?

just stick a rag or some foam (like carpet underpadding) in between the gas tank and whatever else it's rattling against.. i did that on the bumper supports, cuz my damping material wouldnt have been as efficient as the foam

I will try that.

Thanks

Thanks that's exactly what I was looking for. I was browsing your site and noticed the different sound deadening products available. Now going by your chart above, say i was planning on using three 50 ft. rolls on the car: Should I get 100 ft of damplifier, and 50 ft. of damplifier extreme ? Or maybe you'd suggest a different combo. That will all set me back around 200 bucks I guess which is pretty good.

Also, i saw that new thread about your new product you've developed, think it's worth it for me to buy a small amount of deadener now and then jump all over this new stuff when it comes out? will it be THAT good ? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Thanks
