sound deadener brands

you can get 40 sq feet of damplifier for $90, that rounds to 50 so do that. On top of that it is the best product available, and ant has second to none customer service.

Edead sucks, go look at the kickpanels i have for sale there is edead applied to the back of them which in some spots is failing, i dont even want to see the stuff thats in my car attached to actual metal

Yeah I am using some edead to cover up my rammat and it is garbage compared to rammat.

Im only going to use it inside the wheel wells and on top of the rear deck

Rammat is thinner than SS, so yes you get more square footage but your not helping as much.

Here is a simple explanation of it, your basically adding mass to the panel to your deadening thats a simple way to see it.

So yes you get more of an lesser product so you can cover more area your still not adding more mass than if you had gone with a product like second skin, there even tho you have covered more area it is actually less effective. So all you have done is do more work for less results.

So simple, in fact, that it's incorrect. By that theory, heavier "deadener" should work better (have a higher DLF measurement) than lighter. This is not a fact. Some would love for you to think that, but it's simply not true.

A constrained layer damping system's effectiveness lies in it's ability to convert mechanical motion into heat [hysteretic damping]; not in how heavy it makes the surface. There's actual physics involved that can be modeled with different math equations. The predictive equations for vicious and non-viscious damping don't account for weight in the determination of how "good" a damping system is.

Viscous damping models, although widely used, are not the only damping models. A wide range of models can be found in specialized literature, but one of them should be referred here: the so called "hysteretic damping model" or "structural damping model".When a metal beam is vibrating, the internal damping can be better described by a force proportional to the displacement but in phase with the velocity. In such case, the differential equation that describes the free movement of a single-degree-of-freedom system becomes:

004c0e1b519e2e4e834a53f5e38d7429.png
where h is the hysteretic damping coefficient and i denotes the imaginary unit; the presence of i is required to synchronize the damping force to the velocity ( xi being in phase with the velocity). This equation is more often written as:

dc0e3ca387a0fa710b5937fda04c7783.png
where η is the hysteretic damping ratio, that is, the fraction of energy lost in each cycle of the vibration.

Although requiring complex analysis to solve the equation, this model reproduces the real behaviour of many vibrating structures more closely than the viscous model.

CLD mat is probably used incorrectly in cars 50% of the time because of this mass loading nonsense.

Damplifier Pro now has a 6 mil foil which they claim leads the nearest competitor by 50% at 4 mil. While this might be true, they publish no DLF stats to verify that their product is any better at damping than others. Sure, testing is a bit tricky, but you want to be "the best" you need to show some proof, IMHO.

I've used all the major brands of VE mat and they all work, but they are certainly not all equal. RAAMmat is not on the level of DP, not because it's lighter or because it's foil is thinner, but because the butylene composite is too tar-like and gooey. I personally think this is why DE would out-damp it if you ran a proper ASTM-E756 test on it.

Don't buy fairy tales, buy quality engineered products.

Yes i understand that but correct me if im wrong but the thicker mat having more mass basically can convert more motion into heat, i know i does not always work this way but that in theory it should correct.

I know the foil thickness is a big factor which is why edead with its mylar backing is not as effective
