Sound Damping

Hey I was wondering if you guys think I should buy some sound damping material to reduce the vibration that my car has. I have an 05 Ford Expedition with two 15"kicker L7s off an Orion 2500. The back vibrates alot. From the front it sounds nice but from behind //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif I want to get rid of most of that vibration. I was wondering if its true that by adding sound damping to a car it could add more SPL? I probably want to add it to the tail gate door of the Expedition which is 48"(w) x 16" (h). What do you guys suggest?

Deadening might decrease SPL, it may also increase it...depends on the install.

However, for anything but a dedicated competition vehicle where you'd have to see what it does, I'd recommend deadening it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I agree with Frost always dampen, your license plate will appreciate it! For what you have you will have to do more than the tailgate.

Dammn I want to get rid of the vibration but dont want to loose SPL

Yea i wanna deaden my jeep too, it doesnt rattle too bad but the hatch and the roof does and the tag.....well thats how people know im coming lol, i was just wondering if it was really worth the money and time effort? i have 2 L7 12's and a 1200.1 powering them

Has anybody ever put that damping shit that prevents license plate rattle?

Always damp, even if you lose SPL on a meter, it will sound louder to your ears bevause of a lowered noise floor (if done right). A car with less road noise needs less speaker/power to sound the same (to overcome ambient noise) Do it now.
