If you are 100% in love with that 6900, you'll need to get a 4 channel amp that can do it. Only one I know of is the 4 channel Sundown. I am sure there are more but that's the only one I know. How does one go 'active'? I never looked into it before... but I want to try to go active.
wait so what if the deck has the HPF/LPF in the deck? that wouldnt be active right?LOL!
Essentially when running 'active' you are eliminating the passive crossover and using either an external processor or one incorporated into a deck to control all the crossover points, slopes, etc.
Way sweet! You get to independently adjust all the crossovers separately for the mids, tweets, woofer in a 3-way setup like mine and get the best possible sound in your designated vehicle.
DO IT!
edit- Easier way to look at it....controlling the processing before the amp rather than after.
Wanna buy me an processor?LOL!

Nop, that just splits the signal so you can get your subwoofer signal. In an active set up, it splits the signal 3 ways (or 4)... lows, mids, and highs.i hope to go active sometime in the future..

I'm not in love with it. Quite the contrary. I FINALLY got the broken Pico fuse problem fixed... that took about a pound of solder and 2 hours (Actually just about 10 minutes, but still)If you are 100% in love with that 6900, you'll need to get a 4 channel amp that can do it. Then you can possibly use the crossovers on you amp (if they extend further than what for speakers are rated for) to officially make it active.Nop, that just splits the signal so you can get your subwoofer signal. In an active set up, it splits the signal 3 ways (or 4)... lows, mids, and highs.
Get an 800 or 880prs Pioneer or an Alpine 9887, or I forget the Eclipse model.Wanna buy me an processor?
I don't think my deck supports active.
St00pid Pioneer! *kicks rock*
No u can't. how will you stop the mids at 3k with only one crossover point? Then you can possibly use the crossovers on you amp (if they extend further than what for speakers are rated for) to officially make it active.
Say for example lpf/hpf @ 62hz from HU
lpf/hpf @ 3k from the amp for 2 way active using mids and tweeters.

I'm just broke ATM.
And if I read correctly, you can have an external processor instead of an amp or HU that can do it.
The most my amp has is a HP / LP filter for front and rear channels //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
Missing the middle part of the band though^Then you can possibly use the crossovers on you amp (if they extend further than what for speakers are rated for) to officially make it active.
